My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

CHRISTMAS 2015

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”      Isaiah 9:6
Hello family and friends,
This Christmas I would like to tell you about something very beautiful that was written by Carlos Roman. In this article, Mr. Roman writes about the characteristics of love and is something that touched by heart.
As we all know, God Himself became a man so that he could show us His love. With the joy and characteristics that come with the Christmas holiday season, the atmosphere is filled with carols, lights, and Christmas food, family get-togethers, vacations, and all the things we were waiting for and dreaming about throughout the year comes to fruition in the month of December, especially on Christmas day. The Christmas sensation and spirit is spread throughout peoples of all different nationalities and cultures on this day in which everybody gets together to celebrate. Many people, however, are not aware of the true reason of their celebration; more than the parties and presents, the reason of Christmas is something very small yet of great significant to all of us: A child whose birth divided history in two, before Christ and after Christ. That is the reason why it is worth saying “Merry Christmas!” now that we celebrate our Saviors birth. It’s worrisome to know that these days Christ has been rejected seeing as this is a Christian nation, with a Christian majority, that was formed by Christians seeking to maintain their faith. They try to change the meaning of Christmas into simply another secular holiday.
What is love useful for? Love is useful just for that, to love. A teacher once told his pupil as they walked in the garden and could hear the sound of the waterfall in the distance, “love is like where this river springs forth, if you treat it well, don’t contaminate it and understand that it is a gift of life given by God and don’t try to change its course, then the river will always inspire love. The river will always be delicate and just, it will always be refreshing and delicate, and will cool everything it touches.” So if you keep the spring of the river, it will always be a fount of life. Love is like this; it will always endure if you take care of it. “But what is useful for?” the pupil asked again. Love is the ultimate connection with our Heavenly Father. In that relationship is the most pure love. Generosity, gratitude, and the language of love are found in our relationship with Christ. True love is when we’re glad at someone else’s successes; we learn to see the heart instead of physical appearances. In love, wrinkles are the sum of the experiences we’ve lived with our loves one. Walking slowly is the patience of living with your loved one. Love is patience and being given towards another. With these things we realize that love doesn’t have an end.
So you ask, “what is love useful for?” Love is useful for connecting us with Christ. So let us remember that in Christmas we should not feel pain, loneliness, worries, now that Christ lives in us and He gives us victory.
Christmas is love unconditional love, Christmas is give without remembering, Christmas is receiving without forgetting, Christmas is spending less and loving more.
Please take this CHRISTMAS season to pray this prayer of faith:
Heavenly Father, I believe in the perfect sacrifice that you did on the cross for humanity. I know that I am a sinner; please forgive me all my sins, clean me with your precious blood. Make me a new creature.
I accept You into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior because I know that you died on the cross for me to get me away from the slavery of sin. And I also know that You rose from the dead, and You are in Heaven now. Please write my name in the Book of Life so that I can be in Heaven with You forever. And I ask all this in your holy name, O Lord Jesus Christ, Amen."
With love,
