My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

PROMISES OF THE LORD

PROMISES OF THE LORD

Today I want to share with you a beautiful reflection that highlights God’s promises for those of us who seek Him and believe in Him. Do not let your problems consume you so much that you only talk about them; rather, let us rise up focused on the Lord’s promises and say, like the prophet David: I am downcast, but You are my rock; I have nothing, but You are my provider; I am sorrowful, but You are my Comforter; You are my fortress, You are my rock, You are the One who opens the way, You fight my battles, You defend me from my enemies, You are my Shepherd and I shall lack nothing, You are my shelter and the One who dries my tears, You are my deliverance, You are my blessing.

The battles of life are unceasing, and they are not won by the strongest, but by the one who never doubts the Lord, for He is the One who grants us victory. Let us not forget that we cannot turn back time to correct our past mistakes, but there is still time, and this very moment is the time to place your life in God’s hands. Time is slow when we wait, fast when we are running late, agonizing when we are sad, short when you are happy, endless when you are in pain, long when you are bored, and beautiful when you are in love. Time always dictates how you feel.

The Gospel is not motivation; the Gospel is salvation. It is not empowerment, but repentance; not self-promotion, but self-denial; not material wealth, but spiritual riches; not greatness, but purity; not accumulation, but giving; not prosperity, but holiness; not ambition, but consecration; not opulence, but obedience; not about being a winner, but being a servant. The Gospel is not about us; it is about Jesus Christ. Sometimes life needs to shake us hard so we realize that the time we have left is not meant to be wasted.

So I’ll tell you this: talking about God is very good, but talking with God is even better. So I simply want to achieve my dreams, push past my limits, triumph with the Lord’s help, and be better than I was yesterday. If you wish to change the world, go home and love your family deeply. This is exactly what we are missing.

Remember: Your circumstances cannot change the Word of God, but the Word of God can change your circumstances.
