My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

MY 87TH BIRTHDAY

Hello family and friends. Remember that on my birthdays I have always told you about old people and old age. Today I do not want to get away from these important issues for everyone. I want to tell you very beautiful and uplifting stories such as this dialogue between a grandfather and his grandson:

Grandpa, how is life lost? Life is lost in many ways, son. It is lost when you want to live someone else's life and not your own. You lose life criticizing the mistakes of others and not correcting yours. It is lost when you regret every moment for having failed and do not look for solutions to succeed. It is lost if you spend envying others and not surpassing yourself. It is lost when you focus only on the negative things and stop enjoying the good things. Life is not lost when you stop breathing but when you lose contentment. The great tragedy of life is not death, it is to stop loving, forgiving, laughing and dreaming, that is, and it is what we let die within ourselves.

Grandpa, is it true that the cow gives milk for our nutrition? The cow does not give milk! This is the secret of life. What are you saying? The boy asked incredulously. Son, the cow does not give milk, you have to milk it. You have to get up at four in the morning and go to the corral, look for the cow, tie its tail and legs and then sit on the bench, place the bucket and do the appropriate movements. That is the secret of life. The goat and the cow do not give milk. You milk them or you don't have milk. Many of this modern generation think that cows give milk, meaning that things are automatic, easy and free. They think that I wish, ask and obtain, but the reality is different, since happiness results from effort. They forget that the absence of effort generates frustration and ignorance.

Grandpa, why do we have to read the Bible every day? It is because the Bible is our faithful teacher (2Timothy 3: 14-17). Think about the teachers who have impacted your life, have you ever considered that the Bible surpasses them? Bible not only teaches who God is and how to be saved, but Bible also tells us how God wants us to live. This indispensable resource offers us encouragement and guidance for everything we face; It also assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8: 38-39). Everything we need is found on its pages. The Bible is not just instruction, it is correction and confrontation. The Bible is a great resource if our hearts are receptive, and we must be humble to accept whatever teaching it offers us even if we don't understand it at the moment.

Grandpa, what is it that makes our family united? Son, not forgetting the family rules: Love us, help us, thank us, hug us, respect us, forgive us, laugh, be happy and just talk about our Creator. And the grandson said, let me add the value of my grandma, which is immense, because she guides us with wisdom, rebukes us with justice and loves us twice because she is twice a mother. She plays a very important role in the unity of my family. Grandpa, thank you for taking care of her and thank you for your wise responses.

Please do not forget that for any evil the remedy is still love, since God is love. Open your heart to this LOVE!

With love,

Maria Fanny Agudelo
