My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

MY TENTH GREAT-GRANDSON

Hello dear family and friends of this Blog. This month I want to share my great joy with the arrival of my 10th great-grandson. He is about to land in this world and we are waiting for him with celebration and party. He is the firstborn of my beautiful granddaughter Lina with her husband Stephen and the first grandson for my beloved daughter Consuelo and her husband Carlos. So we are celebrating the miracle of life. These tips were initially for Stephen & Lina, but now they go to all couples in the world.
I tell you that the wife when she is pregnant, she is not expecting a baby, she has a baby. She is not going to be a mother, she is a mother. The baby is not on the way, the baby has arrived. If you want to change the way society treats the unborn we must change the way we talk about them.
Keep in mind that no matter what we teach our children, they insist on behaving like their parents, since we teach what we know and they reproduce what we are. If you tell it to me, I forget it, if you show it to me, I remember it, and if you involve me I learn it. Do not forget that a child is not a mistake, it is not a burden, it is not a problem, it is not an inconvenience, it is not a nuisance, it is not an accident, and it is not a punishment. It's a blessing from God! Remember: God speaks to those who have time to listen and listens to those who have time to pray. May the Lord bless the love and fruit of this precious couple very much! I love you three.
I think it is opportune to add to this message some healthy tips for raising our children that were written by Edgar Guest in "The Good Example." He says: What we convey verbally to our children may be with wisdom, but what really serves is the example. We must understand what we teach them is with good intention, but can be canceled if they do not see their parents do it. Where are we heading our little flock with our example? We must remain attached to the true Vine, that is, Jesus Christ. Does Christ live in you? Is he just an acquaintance or is he part of your life? Do not forget that without Him we can do nothing. Our example should be a beacon of light guiding our children on the right path. Just as our light shines for Christ, may our children see our good deeds and praise the Lord with their life. A young man said: The advice you give me is wise, but I prefer to learn my lesson by observing you; I can misunderstand the advice, but how you act and how you live I cannot misunderstand, since I can see the movement of your hands in action, but the words can go too fast. I will learn very soon if you involve me. Good advice is confused, but the example is always obvious. I'd rather you walk next to me and not just tell me the way. The eyes are more willing than the ears. I'd rather see action than listen to lectures. Seeing good in action is what we all need. A mother or father must discipline their children lovingly. They examine matters of the heart and train them to be obedient and glorify God.
They use punishment with wisdom and discernment so that the blessing and fullness are great in the home. So far Mr. Guest.
I add: when we correct a child properly we get a lot, but if we encourage and stimulate them we get much more, since it is better to convince and promote than to force and abuse. Prayer and love can do everything. Children obey more for love than fear. Let's focus on the heart, not on their behavior because if they change the heart, they will change their behavior. Rightly God says, "O my son, give me your heart; may your eyes take delight in following my ways." (Proverbs 23:26)
With love,
