My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

BRIDGE VS. WALL

Hello family and friends! Let me tell you that going over my archives I found an article about walls, and I thought, this is such an ancient method, yet so relevant since we hear comments about it daily. I think that neither in those times nor in these modern times, did a wall ever give good results. Therefore it is better to build bridges than walls.
Never make physical, nor walls of enmity, person vs person,
people against people, and nation against nation; for what we need is to be united and support one another since united forces do wonders. Never forget that Jesus said that a kingdom divided against itself shall not stand. What we need are bridges of love, mercy, peace, understanding, compassion, surrender, and tolerance. We should build bridges from within our hearts, towards the hearts of others, only allowing the light of peace and love to pass through. Remember that life is a trip and not a competition, as well as being very short, wherefore we should forgive and love more, leaving the rest to the Lord. It does not matter what you face in life; where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Did you know that it’s more
important to be amiable than to be right? Don’t forget that the goal is not a dividing wall, but a uniting bridge that leads to the construction of bridges of love and blessing. Remember that the lack of love and compassion blocks you heart, severing your communication with God, meaning His presence wouldn’t flow, since it would find an unbelieving heart. Instead the one who overlooks an offence creates bridges and ropes of love and friendship. Human life can be beautiful, but we need humanity before technology and kindness before intelligence. When the leaders pray, God blesses the people. If no one contributes to sowing love, how could we avoid murder? Don’t forget that when we have good will and enthusiasm, God is our best ally. Let’s fight to abolish barriers between nations, end hatred and intolerance, knowing very well that the road toward the top isn’t attained stepping over the needy, but rather by stopping to give them help. If you think you’re too important to help the weak ones, you only deceive yourself, since what makes a person strong is recognizing that they are weak.
We’ll know that we that we are hearing from God when what we read in the Bible is what people are seeing in our lives. It doesn’t matter what we teach our kids, they insist in behaving like their parents, since we teach them what we know, but reproduce what we are. “If you teach it to me, I’ll forget. If you show it to me and involve me, I’ll remember.”
Love is not easily hidden; loving is the most efficient way to receive love. The greatest manifestation of love was given by Christ on the CROSS. He is the fountain of love and if we have Him living in our hearts, we can give love and build bridges thereof. Do you want to experience this great love?
With love,
Maria Fanny Agudelo
