My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

STRONG FAMILIES

Hello family and friends,
I love family reunions and this is one of them. Did you know that the family is the base of society? The family is a small church and a place where we teach our children about faith and the Word of God. It’s also the only place most similar to heaven, because there we experience security, peace, tranquility, and love; in other words, God is there.
Therefore we should work towards making sure that families are not destroyed. The Lord will be able to save us from the disasters that broken families bring.

Now I would like to share with you five important points written by Eliezer Perez; they are summed up as follows:
1.  We should remain focused on family life, establishing priorities and sharing quality time.
2.  The family is strengthened active communication amongst family members. Communication should be edifying, constructive, clear, precise, and direct, and never offensive.
3.  Love should also be expressed both physically and verbally. If you desire a family that is healthy and united, tell your family members you love them with regularity.
4.  It has been shown that families that put God first, experience wellness and a sense of purpose. Don’t forget that all families experience times of hardship and because of this, it is necessary to learn how to resolve conflict and crisis in an appropriate manner never allowing people’s differences should become separation. Instead, family members should be united when trials and tribulations do occur.

Grandchildren bring joy to the lives of their grandparents. Children are the testimony and grandchildren the confirmation and that’s we care about them so as they are God’s greatest gift in our advanced age. When we hold one of our grandchildren in our arms, we experience pure love, because they don’t ask for anything and yet give everything. Grandchildren are the blessing of the years because they fill the house with a youthful love. They say that the grandparents love their grandchildren more than their children, but this is not so because their love for their children is renewed through their grandchildren.

Thank you, Father God, for allowing us to be parents and grandparents. We are glad that we have completed your mission, Father God, and are able to come to you Lord with the fruits of this household. Watch over them Lord, protect them with Your grace and love. Lead them down the good path of the truth, don’t allow them to become apart from you, and don’t let Your divine protection ever fail them.

Grandparents have a great responsibility to give a good testimony because our families pay close attention to our words and advice, and we can be of great influence. Let us not forget that with our love and testimony we can leave a legacy of blessing for our descendants. I hope that this becomes a reality and that each generation may grow in their love for the Lord. In this way the world will become a better and greater place. My advice is that we never depart from the Lord so that we may have healthy and happy families.
May the Lord of Peace continue guiding you through many blessings for the glory of the Lord.

WRITER’ S NOTE: These were some words I read to my daughters on the 30th anniversary of their weddings on August 6th, 2016.
