My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL SLAVERY, AND WHAT SETS YOU FREE!

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
(Luke 6:31)

Dear friends of the Blog, I believe that neither you nor I have been in agreement with the slavery; the best thing of all is that God isn’t either. Today I want to share something that I found in the file speaking of this topic. The author of this, David Joel Hamilton, is not very well-known and I made a summary from one of the chapters of his teachings. Enjoy it.

God does not want us to be enslaved by anything, by anyone, and much less by sin. Don’t forget that sin enslaves us and a lot of Biblical knowledge does not guarantee us salvation. Only when we obey, it is then, that we can have a good relationship with God. The Bible stipulates true principles, but we take too much time to realize how to apply to our lives. God provides the truth to us in his word, but we are responsible to reflect in its implications.

Concerning physical slavery; let’s not forget that when Jesus Christ was on Earth he did not speak about the abolition of slavery. Nevertheless, when saying that we have to love our neighbor as ourselves, he destroyed the foundation behind the idea of slavery. Therefore, we know that the Lord has never been an agreement with it. Thank God that most people agree that slavery is bad.

Now concerning spiritual slavery; knowing God provides understanding and it helps to discern the truth: and the truth will set you free. Another key thing for freedom is obedience to God.

He has given you some/a gift(s) so that you can carry out what has called to you to do. He is not unjust, and will never request you to do something without giving you the ability to do it. When you do what God has called you to do then you will feel glad.

Concerning physical and spiritual slavery; let’s not forget that God is preparing the scene for the final chapter of Christianity. All things will be restored when He returns. So we must be sensible to the Holy Spirit and to what He is doing in our lives. If we fight on our own we will finish confused and defeated. But if we let the Lord God Defend our cause, he will remove all the obstacles.  If you watch your heart and your attitude God will not only bless you but also all that is yours. Remember, it is our task to obey the Lord, do what He asks us to do, and spread the gospel.

We must stay submitted to God and love others as ourselves. We must obey God and let him take care of it as a result. In the end we will all realize of that the hand of God always rests on us. Are you ready to let the hand of God rest on you? If so then pray this prayer with me whether your slavery is physical; or spiritual because of sin:
“Dear God, I have been suffering some kind of slavery that only you and I know what kind, but dear God, I am ready to let your hand rest on me and lay my burdens on the cross; I accept you into my heart as my personal Lord and savior, because I know that you died on the cross for me to set me free from this slavery. And I also know that you rose from the dead and that you are now in heaven again. Please right my name in the book of life so that I can be in heaven with you for every. And I pray this in your Holy Name, O Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”

With love,
