My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

SAD WEEK

Hello beautiful family and dear friends, sometimes we forget that the love of God does not remove us from our trials, but it helps us to endure them to grow in faith. So with bitter sorrow I went to Jesus and showed him my pain. After the celebration of Thanksgiving last November, we listened to the Black Friday commercials; I don’t even understand why it’s called black, knowing very well that the businessmen make a profit from it. You are probably wondering: Why all this? Very simply because a week after this holiday, I experienced in my heart not a black Friday, but a black week where everything happened to me. Problems with the pension that my husband left me in Colombia, problems with the health of my niece, problems with the medicine of my eldest daughter, problems because someone hit the car of one of my daughters, problems with my memory, etc. Thank God my daughter from Tennessee called me and gave me consolation telling me that older we are, the more sensitive we become. “For example, mom, you are more sensitive than me; I am more sensitive than my 17-year-old son Nathanael, he is more sensitive than an elementary school child; and this child is more sensitive than a baby in the crib. This sensitivity refers to perceiving more the circumstances around us that cause us stress. So do not worry, just remember that God is always with us, in beautiful moments and also in those that hurt.”
Are you in crisis? This is what I recommend: Do not demand explanations from God, do not count on your ability to understand what is happening. Don’t let your faith shrink, but rather trust in Him saying, "Thy will be done". Also remember Job saying "even if you kill me, I will trust in you". So I invite you to analyze the following anonymous text entitled "Black Friday":
About two thousand years ago there was a black Friday, the blackest in history. Luke tells us that on that black Friday while the Son of God was lifted up and nailed to the cross, the whole earth was left in darkness (Luke 23:44). In that "black Friday", God made the best offer for humanity to receive; He made salvation free and within reach of all of us. On that black Friday at Golgotha he did not just make a simple discount for our debt, He paid it off completely because God's love is unconditional.
Did you know that Pastor Billy Graham wrote something about affliction? He says, "Brokenness is the gateway to communion with God. Could it be possible to trust in God and feel afflicted at the same time? Yes. Recognizing your hopelessness before God can be an affirmation of faith. Remember that David wrote ‘although I am very distressed, I still believe in God’ since God allowed him to say what he felt and would continue to love him. "
When you put your worries in the hands of God, He puts his peace in your heart. Today I allow myself to leave behind the dark parts of my life and move forward safely towards a future filled with light, the light of God, the hand of God.
Let us also practice always what the Holy Spirit tells us in the book of James 5:13, "Is there anyone among you that is afflicted? Pray. Is any cheerful? Sing praises." That is to say, regardless of the circumstance, we must turn to the Lord either in clamor or in praise. The important thing is to do it soon, be it one or the other.
With love,
