My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

FOR ALL THE HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES

Dear friends and family of the blog, please allow me to share with you that as I was checking my archive, I’ve found a very important, as well as interesting, theme. It is about something that happens all over the world and especially with the most vulnerable people. Also with this, we prove that in our societies there is a vast lack of faith in God, and a vast lack of love toward our neighbors.
It is said that on this planet earth, there is much corporal hunger; this is true, but we observe that there is also much spiritual hunger. It has been proven that the lack of love far exceeds the lack of food, for if there was love, then there would be enough food in this world.
Now, even though the following text is anonymous, I invite y’all to analyze it, so that each of us can be a grain of salt in our societies.
“I was sick and you gave me, as my only name, bed #24. I was sick and you asked me if I came from a private or official business. I was sick and you told me: ‘you complain with no reason.
’ I was sick and you kicked me out of the hospital without caring about my case. I was sick and you told me: ‘I can’t attend to you, let someone else do it: this hospital doesn’t correspond to you.’ Therefore, I died along the way. Wouldn’t it be better: “I was sick and you called me by name. I was I was sick and you came every morning to smile and greet me with a ‘good morning’.  I was sick and I was to you a someone, and not a something. I was sick and you accepted my impatience with patience. I was sick and whenever you came to see me you wished me peace. I was sick, and I arrived in grave condition at your institute, and you allowed me to enter, and cared for me. I was sick and you turned my pillow so I would feel better. I was sick and you treated me with competence. I was sick and you gave me what I needed: care, comprehension, and love. I was sick and you gave me God.”
Don’t forget that God is not only the starting point of your life, but also the source thereof. And remember that you should go to the Word of God, not to the wisdom of the world, to discover the purpose of your life. Not only that, but that this message is not only for hospital employees; rather, it is for the whole world. We all need to practice love, regardless of the circumstance. Remember, “today it’s for you, tomorrow it’s for me.”
Please, be merciful and have a loving heart.
With love,
Maria Fanny Agudelo
