My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

YOU HAVE CAPTIVATED MY HEART

I
Lord Jesus Christ, you captivated my heart,

To know that I cannot refuse to please you my good Lord.
II
You are the beauty of the clear sky,

I want to follow footsteps of the true God.
III
Your wonderful love at Calvary’s hill broke my heart,

Take me to the bosom of your love.
IV
If I could count all stars, I would give them to you,

The abundance of love that seized me is immense every day.
V
Keep me safe my Lord because I want to behold your beauty,

And be in your arms in the divine mansions.
VI
If I could make songs of love,

I'd give them to you my good Lord.
VII
In this sunset of my life all to you I give,

Let me rejoice with you my good Lord.
VIII
One day not too far away we, the children of God will meet in Heaven,

Make sure that no one gets left behind because I'll be waiting for you all with my Lord.

Sincerely,
                               José Joaquín Agudelo.

LOYALTY

Your Word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the Heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth and it endures.
Psalm 119:89-90

Dear friends of the blog, I want to share something special with you today for everyday life: LOYALTY. This is a moral virtue so forgotten in our modern age that it leads society to chaos. Its authors are ancient, from 450 years after Christ. I am referring to the famous philosopher, theologian, and writer, Saint Augustine. Born in the North of Africa in the year 354 A.D. he was the son of a pagan gentile whose mother was a Christian who constantly prayed of him. St. Augustine died 28th of August in the year 430 A.D. and he was buried in Hipona. His remains were later moved to Italy. Let us see what he wrote:
“Loyalty doesn’t have to be defined for many people, because they practice it daily. But unfortunately, for many people their loyalties aren’t well directed.” Let’s not forget that the disloyalty demands a heavy price from the person who engages in it but that loyalty supports hardships and withstands temptations, not wavering when it is put to the test.

For example, when Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, he remained loyal and faithful to his pact with the Lord. Loyalty is a mark of happiness and alongside kindness, we can achieve many things. What has happened with devotion inside the family? Where is the loyalty towards those whom we love? According to the Word of God, we are not meant to put that loyalty in the things of this world but instead in Christ. We should love Christ and by extension, demonstrate our loyalty to our families and loved ones. What is love? Love has hands to help others, love had legs to run towards those in need, love has ears to listen the pains of our fellow man and hands to work the healing Christ can bring into those lives. In one instant, love can transform the world because love brings life. When we act in love, we are faithful to society. We all love someone or something. Love motivates and molds us in what we are passionate about. Nothing important is ever achieved without a dose of passion, mission, and vision. Jesus was passionate; He died for us because He loved us passionately. So make the promise to show the Lord your loyalty and love for your family. Remember, without Christ, we can do nothing; but there is nothing He wants more than us. Do not forget that a Christian knows how to be faithful and how organize their lives; even though they might have tears in their eyes they still smile and say, “I’m ok, praise God.”

God’s faithfulness ensures generation after generation; I experience God’s faithfulness every day, in every moment and in every circumstance. I see God’s faithfulness in those around me, in my family, in the Church, and around the world. God’s faithfulness is so great that even if we were to be unfaithful, He would still remain with us (2 Timothy 2:13). What an example! We should do the same, practicing faithfulness and loyalty in all our relationships, beginning with marriage. He who is faithful to Christ is faithful to his neighbor. Are you fulfilling this principle?

With love,
                                Maria Fanny Agudelo
