My husband and I were raised in Catholic families in Colombia, and from an early age our parents taught us the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic religion. But on April of 1989, when we were born again, we began to understand the true meaning of being a Christian and since then our relationship with God has become more personal. Since then we began to write. José Joaquin wrote reflections about the love of God and messages of hope for humanity, and I wrote wise advice for all families everywhere.

THE GREAT MADNESS OF LOVE

THE GREAT MADNESS OF LOVE

I

The Lord’s mad loves,

I cannot count them,

I only feel them

like a heavenly feast.

II

Yesterday in the morning,

while everyone slept,

my heart delighted

in melodious harmony.

III

The fragrant scent of the clear sky,

with longing we savor

the delights of His love,

which only in Him we find.

IV

We journey through divine realms,

with hope and yearning,

longing for the blessed God,

the wellspring of our comfort.

V

I do not settle

for the delights of the world,

I love to guide my thoughts

into the deepest depths.

VI

In the Lord’s own fields,

all that I think turns into

sweet melodies of love

that enchant my mind.

VII

The thoughts given by the Lord

are all so beautiful;

amidst life’s gentle charms,

we enjoy them to the fullest.

VIII

Dear Father God, I want to write you

fresh little verses today;

do not hold back my words,

for I long to speak to you so sweetly.

IX

Holy Father,

your friendship is so lovely,

that I hardly know how to tell you

in this sea of happiness.

X

In this great longing for love,

we place ourselves in Your Holy Presence.

Hold back nothing, Father,

take us with You into eternity.

¿BRIDGES OR WALLS?

¿BRIDGES OR WALLS?

Now I want to speak to you about true love and true friendship. It is far better to build bridges than walls, so never erect physical barriers, nor walls of hostility between people. Remember that what we truly need is to unite and support one another, for united forces can work wonders. Let us not forget God’s words: “Every kingdom divided against itself will be destroyed.” Therefore, all we truly need are bridges of love, mercy, peace, understanding, compassion, selflessness, and tolerance. We must build bridges from our hearts to the hearts of others, bridges that only allow the light of peace and love to pass through. Life is a journey, not a competition. Life is very short, so let us love and forgive more, leaving the rest to God. No matter what you face in life, where the Holy Spirit is, there is freedom. Did you know that it is more important to be kind than to be right? Do not forget that our goal should not be walls of division among families and communities, but rather reconciliation, built through bridges of love and blessing. Remember that a lack of forgiveness and compassion hardens the heart and severs our connection with God; when His presence cannot flow, faith begins to fade. Conversely, those who choose to overlook offenses build bridges and bonds of love and friendship, and in doing so, receive divine wisdom. Instead of accepting a world ruled by weapons, we hope for a world ruled by love. Human life can be free and beautiful, but we need humanity more than machines, and kindness more than intelligence. When leaders pray, God blesses His people. If no one sows love, how can we prevent humanity from destroying itself? Love can hardly be concealed, for loving others is the most powerful way to be loved in return. Do not forget that when we act with goodwill and enthusiasm, God becomes our greatest ally. Let us strive to dismantle the barriers between families and peoples. Let us also put an end to hatred and intolerance, knowing full well that the path to the summit is not paved by stepping on others, but by pausing to offer them a helping hand. We will know we are truly listening to God when the truths we read in His Word, the Bible, are visibly reflected in our daily lives. Let me tell you, the finest perfume, and one that costs nothing, is the presence of God in your life. Immerse yourself in God, so that as you walk through this earth, you leave behind the sweet fragrance of His presence in the lives of others.

With love,

Fanny Agudelo
