“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty
spirit before a fall.”
Proverbs 16:18
Beloved
family and dear readers of the Blog. Today, I want to share with you
something very uplifting for it helps us against an evil that afflicts all of us: The pride, written by the pastor Puerto Rican
Fausto Lora. I hope that we can be vigilant and practice the tips
contained in this message. These are some paragraphs of writing.
Pride
is prior to the fall and the crisis. But, what is pride? This is defined as I having
a great concept about myself showing me superior to others; it is also
a feeling of arrogant superiority. The pride has caused the fall of
many people including notable and prominent. Pride and
selfishness go hand to hand. This happened to Lucifer the devil in heaven and
we have inherited it since then as a reason of internal struggle and a stone of
stumbling in all the areas in which the human being live. The pride of Lucifer led
him to his fall. He thought that he could be better than God. ! Large error! Pride
obscures the truth and causes frustration, pain, isolation and loneliness. In
Isaiah 14:12-14 says the following: "How you have fallen from heaven, O morning
star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid
low the nations! You said in your heart,
“I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will
sit enthroned on the mount of assembly; on the utmost heights of the sacred
mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like
the Most High."
Lucifer
considered by himself better than God; his name meant at the time light bearer;
he was knocked down by God to earth where today, he is known as Satan or
deceiver. He is no longer a leader of praise to God, nor an majestic angel, but
an evil spirit that wanders on the earth like a lion seeking whom he may
devour.
Another
good example is where the prophet Daniel records the fall of the great
king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. One day this king looked everything that he had
achieved, and with particular arrogance said: Look at the great Babylon I have
built, what I have done with my mighty power for my own honor (Daniel
4:30). While he was still speaking, a
voice from heaven said: This is what is decreed for you king, your royal
authority has been taken from you (Daniel 4:31). At the same time Nebuchadnezzar, who was once
a great king, lost his reason and began to act like an animal; until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and
his nails like the claws of a bird (Daniel 4:33). Nebuchadnezzar removed his eyes from God and he
focused on their strength; he forgot God who had created him big. He became
to think that he had created by himself and that he did not need God or anyone
else. ! That error so fatal!
And
even it’s happening in the whole of humanity in our days. The proud and
arrogant has made many people fall out of the success very quickly. In the
years 80 of the last century, many leaders become to blind of the reality of
God because of fame. Immediately the pride prevented them from recognizing the
need for God.
The
writing end here.
Usually
when we lose the guidance of God, we also lose the Biblical foundations; and
many of us forgot that time ago we had nothing, but we lived
caught of God by faith and that in spite of the shortages, lived in
accordance with giving God the glory and the gratitude. Sometimes we also
forget the fact that it was God, and only God who blessed us because the
successes come from God. But we also know that the problems and failures God allows
them to mold us and purify us and all of this is for our good although we do not
understand it at the time of the tribulation.
JESUS
CHRIST, God made man is who personified all the opposite of pride and he
pointed us out the right way to go. He said in Matthew 11:29: " …learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your
souls." Think, Why The King and Creator of the universe is gentle and
humble and we his creatures live the life with pride? It’s ridiculous!
We
have to follow His example if we really want to live a life experiencing the
peace of God and the true rest in the midst of a world tiring. Beloved reader, are
you ready to follow in His footsteps?
With
love,
Maria Fanny Agudelo.
